Biodefense Pioneer Dr. David Danley (Col. Retired)
Joins Parabon's Advisory Board

Parabon NanoLabs is pleased to announce that David L. Danley, PhD has joined the company's scientific advisory board. Dr. Danley has over 20 years of experience in medical and biotech research with special emphasis on developing and managing biodefense initiatives. He retired from the United States Army with the rank of Colonel in 2003. During his tenure with the Department of Defense (DOD), he established himself as a pioneer in bringing FDA certification to military medical products and received numerous awards and citations, including the distinguished member of the Army Medical Department Regiment, Legion of Merit and Defense Meritorious Service Medal for the Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program.

Dr. Danley served as the Project Manager of the Chemical Biological Medical Systems and Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program, where he developed critical new vaccine efforts against smallpox, anthrax, and other deadly agents. His responsibilities included advanced development FDA licensure and fielding of medical products against chemical and biological threat agents and for rapid diagnostic systems. He also served as Commander of the U.S. Army Center for Environmental Health Research, where he started a program to develop and evaluate small, low power sensor technologies for toxic compounds. Dr. Danley also served as the Assistant Program Manager for the Joint Program Office for Biological Defense where he was one of the key architects for the DOD Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program for the development of biological defense vaccines.

In addition to his current scientific advisory role at PNL, Dr. Danley also serves as Director of Homeland Security and Defense Programs for CombiMatrix Corporation where he is responsible for defense related research projects. He also serves as the 2011 Medical Sector Lead, for the Chem-Bio Defense Acquisition Initiative Forum (CBDAIF), which is a special program whereby the Joint Program Executive Officer-Chemical Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD) can discuss items of interest with subject matter experts representing the chemical biological defense industrial base. Dr. Danley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Portland State University and a Doctorate in Biological Sciences from Purdue University. He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine.
